One of the first questions people ask when they plan a holiday is, “Will it be hot?” We are lucky enough in Phuket to enjoy a tropical climate, and generally it’s warm enough to wear t-shirts and shorts all year around and to enjoy the sea together with La Moet

The hottest months of the year are March and April when the temperatures can reach anywhere between 27°C to 37°C. April is the month of the nationwide water festival, Songkran. This is the Thai New Year and a national holiday. It’s a day of fun for everyone as you can throw buckets of water at each other and squirt water guns without getting into trouble, and it’s a good excuse to cool down!

Rain Drops

From May to October the rain starts, and sometimes it can continue right through November. Don’t let this put you off however, even when it rains in Phuket it doesn’t mean it will rain all day. It can be a torrential downpour in the morning and then bright and sunny again by afternoon.

Best Time to Visit

People often ask us when is the best time to visit? Well, all year round of course! Phuket weather is warm most of the time, however if you like it really hot and want to go swimming and snorkelling in the ocean, then the best time to come is between November until March as the temperature is just right.

December and January are the busiest months for Phuket and this is when the weather is at its peak. The rains have stopped, it’s hot but not too humid, the sea is calm, the sky blue and there’s lots of sunshine. If it does rain at all it will be over very quickly and cool things down.

From May to November rain showers keep things cool and the island is quieter. Prices also go down, for accommodation, activities and even eating out. Business owners take the opportunity to close for a while and have a holiday.

During these months it’s not always safe to swim at the beach and diving or snorkelling trips might be cancelled due to bad weather. There’s still plenty of things to do however, you can join Phuket boat tours or participate in some other activity. There’s always something fun and interesting happening on this tropical island.

At La Moet our favourite time of year is December to April as this is our busiest time. Sea conditions are favourable and we meet lots of people from hosting our boat trips. The days are hot, the sea calm and the visibility for snorkelling perfect.
