Koh Bon

Just look across the bay from Rawai and there is Koh Bon, hire a longtail boat and you’ll reach its shores in a matter of minutes. There is a small Thai restaurant run by Dawn that serves good food, have a swim and snorkel then tuck into delicious Thai dishes. The water is clear and there’s not generally too many other people around so it can be nice to stay for a while.

Koh Kaew sits opposite Promthep Cape and is a tiny island easily reached by longtail boat from Rawai. It’s worth a visit to see the two-large golden Buddha’s and stroll up to the small temple on top of the hill.

Racha Island

Racha Island is just over 10 miles south of Phuket and best to visit with Phuket island tours. It’s very small and attracts divers and snorkelling trips. There are 3 resorts located here and the island is fun to explore. The water is crystal-clear and the beaches pure white, this does mean that there can be a lot of day trippers from Phuket. Take a walk up to the top of the hill to the south of the bay and you’ll reach the viewpoint from where you can see the entire island.

Coral Island

Coral Island is a very popular day-trip destination so expect it to be busy. It has a reef directly off the beach, the water is shallow and the colourful fish swim right up to the water’s edge. The island is part of a marine reserve, but they do have facilities here including bungalows and restaurants, water sports and diving.
