Phuket has plenty to occupy you, but think about venturing off the island for a day or two. It can really be worth the effort.

Just over the Sarasin Bridge, that joins Phuket to the mainland, is Natai Beach. Still unspoilt due to building restrictions, it’s quiet and there are no crowds or beach chairs to ruin the views. Further up the coastline are even more deserted beaches, each one gorgeous, and it’s very likely you’ll have the whole stretch of sand to yourselves!

Phang Nga with its wild coastline, tropical jungle, waterfalls, mountains, and rural villages is the most popular day trip from Phuket as the scenery is magical. Tall vertical limestone rocks burst up out of the blue ocean and hidden caves lead into tropical lagoons. You would really be missing out if you don’t take a day trip to the bay.

Phi Phi Island TourThe Phi Phi islands can also be seen on a day trip from Phuket as they are just under 50km away. A boat trip will reveal the best parts of Koh Phi Phi Don and Koh Phi Phi Ley, and go on to discover smaller uninhabited beaches.

Dive off the deck into the clear waters for an invigorating swim or snorkel and look out for the macaques that feast on the crabs at Monkey Beach. Don’t miss a visit to the renowned Viking Cave, and make sure to ask the captain to stop off at the remarkable Maya Bay.

Phuket Boat Trips

The best way to discover all the above places, Phang Nga Bay, The Phi Phi Islands and other smaller islands in the Andaman, is by sea. There are plenty of boat tours that leave daily, but this means you will have to travel and sightsee with other tourists. The huge benefit of chartering a boat privately, with a crew and a captain to advise and guide, is that you have a lot more control over where to go and how much time to spend there.

Chartering a boat for the day is not that expensive, particulary if you invite family and friends along to share the cost. Refreshments will be provided on board and any necessary equipment, such as snorkels and masks, should be included.

On a, you can ask the captain to go and find another tropical island if there are too many people around. There is nothing worse than arriving at a beautiful location only to see all the best spots on the beach taken, and lots of noise.

At La Moet we have private boat trip become spoilt over the years, as our idea of the perfect day trip is one that keeps well away from other boats and tourists. We offer all our guests a peaceful trip with views of deserted islands, mangroves, and the opportunity to swim with no-one but the fishes.
